(The level of your knowledge of God
will determine the depth of your exploit Isa 37:31)
To many Christians God is a stranger. They do not
have any knowledge of the father. Like the woman at the well, she was expectant
of our Lord Jesus but could not identify Him when He appeared to her. This
woman was boasting about the coming of Jesus to Jesus Himself.
Heb. 11:6
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because
anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those
who earnestly seek him.From the scripture above;
- We need faith to please God
- This faith will be strengthened by the fact that we know God exist.
- When we diligently seek him receive our reward
- Note this it is not enough to know that God exist; even the devil knows God exist, we need to seek Him and find him.
- It is when we draw near to God that He draws near to us – James 4:8
- Seek God that we find Him – Isaiah 55:6
Jeremiah
9:23-24
"Let not
the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the
rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he
understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice
and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the Lord.
From the scripture above; We should know God and understanding
Him. And boast about these two things and that is what He delights in.
It is not about how many demons you cast out or how
many miracles you perform or your status in society. Luke 10:20-21. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice
that your names are written in heaven.”
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit,
said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed
them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.John 17:3 this is life eternal that they may know Him.
- If you know God it will secure your eternal life – your name will be written in the book of life.
- So many of us go round boasting about their Christianity but do not know God.
- They have the form of godliness but lack the power which comes from the true knowledge of the father.
Do you know Him?
In John 10: 2-6 & 14
2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd
of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate
for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and
leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all
his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know
his voice. 5 But they will never follow a
stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a
stranger’s voice.14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.
- Here it is important as sheep we know our shepherd so that we can hear His voice and follow his leading.
- So that we can distinguish between our shepherd and strangers who come with flattery to corrupt us as said in Daniel 11:32
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall
he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be
strong, and do exploits.
When God wanted to send Moses He revealed Himself to
him .Exodus 3:2-6
- The burning bush experience:
- Changed Moses’ attitude towards God; when he heard it was God he hid his face. Attitudinal change
Matthew 16:13- 20
When Jesus came to the region of
Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who
do people say the Son of Man is?”
14 They replied,
“Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or
one of the prophets.”
15 “But what about
you?” he asked. “Who do you say
I am?”
16 Simon Peter
answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to
you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And
I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this
rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not
overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys
of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in
heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in
heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his
disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
- The disciples had walked with God for over 2yrs but did not know Him.
- It took divine revelation to make known the true identity of Christ to Peter.
- That knowledge Peter received from the spirit made him the rock and firm foundation for the building of God’s church – They that know their God will be strong and will make exploit.
- He received the keys of the kingdom of heaven to bind and to loose.
- Your knowledge of God will establish you as a rock for God’s exploit.
- You will receive the keys of the kingdom to usher you into your destiny
By your deeds, thoughts and words how do you position God? Who is He to you?
I am dwelling on the 3 O’s in theology:
- Omnipotent - Rev 19:6
- Omniscient
- Omnipresent - Psalm 139:7–10
“Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!” (Revelation 19:6). Having unlimited or universal power, authority, or force; all-powerful. One having unlimited power or authority.
Ps 62:11 One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
Roman
9:19-21 Who has resisted his will, has not the potter power over the clay?
- I came to announce to you that if you connected to this all powerful God you will have power to excute your will
Omniscient God
Having total knowledge;
knowing everything: an omniscient deity; One having total knowledge.
Heb.
4:13
Nothing
in all the creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and
laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
1John
3:20…….. God is greater than our hearts and he knows everything
Omnipresent - Psalm
139:7–10).“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell [the grave], behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:7–10).
- Here, God is everywhere
- Even in the bely of the whale He was there with Jonah and could here him and answer his prayers
Isaiah 43:2 When you go through the waters I will
be with you, go through the fire it will not hurt you…
Why because John 4:24. God is spirit ………..
Job 11:7 Who can fathom the
mysteries of God and who can probe His limit- Every mystery is hidden from man but revealed to God
- God is limitless
Romans 1:20
- God is divine
- He is eternal
- And Invisible
- God is Holy - Rev 4:8
The four living creatures,
each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not
rest day or night, saying:
- God is Love 1John 4:8 &16
- These characters of God are to make in know who He is and draw near to Him
- Philippians 3:10 - Paul after meeting Jesus still sought to know Him
